It’s A Long Drive through COVID Country

Taking pictures in the moving car is a bit of an issue
I’m not actually driving though. That was too tricky and probably illegal.

Started the day at a reasonable hour of 8 o’clock.  Eric is playing ‘COVID safe’ navigator today.  Two hours drive before stopping for a comfort break and driver swap. Onward along the next motorway until the other driver needs a break and it’s time to do a seat swap again. Traffic not too heavy and made good time to a late lunch stop at Tebay services - time to break out the homemade picnic and the tea is still good and hot. The rain started here and there was very variable weather for the remainder of the drive. Scotland looms, marked by their flag on the roadside.

Glasgow looks like it might be congestion city but in fact never came to a standstill and we are out and away more easily than we thought.  Nearly taking a wrong turn finds us on the shores of Loch Lomond and, with such a pleasant view, time for some more picnic goodies.

A van with three youths turns up next to us and they get changed into bathers - they are going swimming - it’s 12 degrees with quite a wind chill factor thrown in but they dive into the lake with abandon, Brrrr.

A pleasant drive across Rannoch Moor and through a misty and atmospheric Glencoe

before we finally arrive at our B&B at half past six - a long and tiring day despite being sat down most of the time.

We book a late breakfast slot and then, in between the rain showers, stroll to the lochside (Loch Linnhe) - through the stands of Japanese Knotweed,

and then to bed.

Eric warms himself up on the Harris Tweed blanket.

No Eric, that is not how you wear your face mask.
